I grew up in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, and graduated from the Graphic Arts college program where I was lucky to be taught by the ‘old school’ generation who had solid academic training. Those preferences in painting as well as the atmosphere of Kryvyi Rih have formed me as an artist and defined my interests (the industrial landscape and its machine-like inhabitants). I see people dissolved in their day-to-day mechanical activities, clothes, daily routes, and familiar interiors. Sometimes a person’s image becomes more expressive and individualized but then it’s submerged by the environment again. I document and exaggerate/hyperbolize all these aspects in the painting by developing three parallel series: ‘Caps’, ‘Love’, and ‘Subtraction’.
